Spring Flowers Burst with Color in Tucson Arizona

When: Spring 2008
Where: Tucson, Arizona
CVB: Tucson, AZ

The Sonoran Desert surrounding Tucson is bursting with color. Tucson and Southern Arizona are green and their famous annual desert wildflowers are blooming in one of the best displays in 10 years. The display, ranging from Mexican gold poppies and purple lupine to pink penstamen and more, won’t last long. The spectacular but relatively short blooming season usually runs mid-March through mid-April, depending on sustaining spring rains. You can view the show in town at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Tohono Chul Park, and Tucson Botanical Gardens.

For fantastic, wild desert flowers, keep your eye on palo verde and ironwood trees in late April and May, and saguaro and prickly pear in May and June.
